Food and Drug Administration (FDA),
Ministry of Public Health, Thailand organized a public hearing for a draft
Chemical Act (2nd
draft) on 21 October 2019. Approximately 100 participants audited a
presentation given by FDA officer and joined a Q&A session.
The draft act is intended to
replace existing framework of Hazardous Substance Act B.E. 2535 (1992), which
is outdated after nearly 30 years of function. According to the article 36 of
the draft Chemical Act (2nd
draft), manufacturer outside Thailand are required to appoint an authorized
representative in Thailand for registration or application of risk assessment
of chemicals.
